Our comprehensive eight week course is perfect for those wanting to make their own clothes and learn the process of dressmaking to enable you to progress with confidence to more advanced dressmaking projects, to work through and make up a pattern and learn the basis of obtaining good fit to your unique body shape.

This course is ideal for those new to dressmaking or those that have lost their confidence in the dressmaking process and looking for a more comprehensive approach.  Students should be proficient with a sewing machine or have completed our Introduction To Sewing Workshop.

Three Day Sewing Retreat In Bedford, Bedfordshire, UK

We are extremely excited to offer this wonderful three day, two night sewing retreat to provide you uninterrupted sewing, gorgeous food, in a beautiful setting right on the banks of the River Great Ouse.

Your stay will be at The Embankment Hotel, which has become one of the premier spots in the heart of Bedford, with wonderful views out over the landscaped embankment and stunning river. In addition to this, we have full use of their private dining room throughout the retreat for the ultimate in sewing heaven. Sarah Fletcher will be on hand throughout the retreat, assisted by Georgina Cox, to provide expert help and guidance with your planned projects. This is a perfect opportunity to indulge in guilt free sewing for three days, whilst being catered for by the wonderful staff and facilities at The Embankment. It is also a wonderful opportunity to make new sewing friendships and perhaps catch up with existing ones.

FRIDAY COMMUNITY SEWING SESSION AT FAY'S AT STAR, BEDFORD

We have teamed up with Coffee at Fay’s at their amazing new venue in the Star Rowing Club along the banks of the River Ouse in Bedford.

Each Friday morning from June ‘19, Fay’s will open it’s doors for us to use for a weekly sewing session. These sessions are designed with flexibility in mind, for those that wish to have support from SDC’s owner Sarah with their own projects, in a community environment, along with great refreshments and food available to purchase from Fay’s wonderful menu.

Whether it be getting started on a project or help with finishing those UFO’s, Sarah can help you with any sewing related project. Any level of experience is welcomed. If you have no sewing experience at all and would like to learn, please contact me in the first instance to discuss further if this is a suitable session for you to attend.

The sessions are held weekly on a Friday during the daytime, 10am until 1pm

Always wanted to learn to sew but have no idea where to start or even how to use a machine?  Or perhaps you used to sew and would love to revisit this amazing craft again but have lost confidence and need a refresher?  Well this is the course for you!  Allowing a ‘back to basics’ approach by making friends with a sewing machine, through to making simple projects. This course will teach you a variety of skills and techniques that will help you tackle future projects with more confidence and ability.

This five week all inclusive course is a perfect way to learn and build your sewing skills, whilst making four different projects.  Perfect for gifting to loved ones or to keep all to yourself!

Our Friday sewing sessions are designed with flexibility in mind, for those that wish to have support to complete their own projects. Whether it be getting started on a project or help with finishing those UFO’s, we can help you with any sewing related project.

All equipment is provided along with use of our sewing machines and overlockers, plus tea/coffee. All you need to bring is your materials and sundries for your chosen project along with a packed lunch, if required, or there are food providers close by where you can grab a quick bite.

This session is held once a month on a Friday during the daytime, 10am until 3pm.
